How to Maintain a Healthy Relationship with Your Children
Enrolling the child in an academic institution with a demanding CBSE school curriculum can be stressful for
both the child and the parent. Understandably, you want your child to do well
in class. But kids often resent being pressured to excel. So how do you
maintain a healthy relationship to reduce their stress?
· Set clear boundaries.
First things first: Give your child some structure in their
life. This means setting clear rules and boundaries, such as guidelines on
things to do and what not to do.
In addition, don’t forget to have an age-appropriate consequence
system at home. For example, if your grade-schooler fails to clean their room,
introduce the concept of losing privileges, such as their phone or video game
console.
· Spend quality time together.
One of the best ways to improve your parent-child relationship
is bonding with them. Dedicating a few hours to your little one can make a huge
difference, especially if you’re usually busy with work.
For instance, why not spend your weekends as a family and go to
the park? You can also eat dinner together, encouraging your child to talk
about their day at school.
· Don’t be afraid to show your love.
Most importantly, you shouldn’t hesitate to show your child that
you love them. A simple “I love you” before they leave for school can brighten
their day, reminding them that they always have someone to come home to.
Furthermore, you must learn to empathise and listen to their
problems. If you’re having difficulty keeping with the CBSE school curriculum, don’t show your
disappointment or compare them to other kids.
Rather, it’s best to listen to what they say, place yourself in
their shoes and work together to solve the issue.
Is your child already enrolled in the best
CBSE school near you? If that’s the case,
don’t forget to support their studies and be a constant source of encouragement;
so they feel motivated and willing to learn!
